He is named after Grand Wizard Theodore -- the hip-hop DJ who invented scratching.
He has been released in at least four versions.
Theodore has a zood named Eddie. Eddie is griffin. Like the comedian -- Eddie Griffin.
Eddie is also the name of Dude #71. Doh!
