Art was the tattooed dude who later became a Kratos parody.
In his G1 form, Art was an armless, naked dude with lots of tats.
He was redesigned to look like Kratos, the protagonist of the God of War video game series. He carries two blades just like the "Blades of Chaos." He also has white skin and a red face tattoo, just like Kratos. The imitation is so obvious, it almost seems like a cross-promotion.
There are two versions of this figure. The G3 version came out in 2005 from X-Concepts. This version has an angular face tattoo.
The G4 figure came out in 2008, and it is exclusive to the Serpent of Doom playset. This is the version with the more curvy-looking face tattoo. This version also has arms that cannot bend. This was the only Spin Master figure made with static arms (except for those weird Trick Dudes).
The first Kratos version of Art came with a zood called Aries. He is a ram, just like the first sign in the Zodiac.
Both names also relate to Greek mythology. Kratos was the god of authority, and Ares was the actual god of war.
Note that "Ares" is the god of war, and "Aries" is the astrological sign.
Not to get all woo-woo on you, but this post was made during Aries.
Mind. Blown.
